The links to the left are articles designed to explain how Bible-based cults work. They are listed in chronological order from top to bottom so that the second builds on the first, the third builds on the second, and so on. If you are now or at any time have been part of a Bible-based cult, you will very likely recognize some of the things in these articles.

You may notice that I do not mention any groups by name in these articles, or anywhere on this website for that matter. This is done on purpose. Many groups in this category use fear tactics and indoctrination in an attempt to prevent their members from reading anything critical of the organization. We are trying to do something a little different here and simply focus on the techniques and behaviors that almost all of these groups use. If the group you are in or have recently left practices these techniques then you can decide how much more (if any) research into it you want to do.

There are dozens of excellent books and websites that do discuss specific groups by name. Several of them are linked up on our "Other Resources" page if you would like to check them out.
